Attorney Lew has dedicated his professional life to serving others and increasing civil access to justice. In 2007, he received the inaugural "Citizen Lawyer" Award from the North Carolina Bar Association for his exemplary public service work in the state. He is a member of the North Carolina Pro Bono Honor Society and has received numerous other honors for his pro bono legal work with immigrants, self-help organizations, and underserved members of the community. He is known as a devoted mentor to a generation of attorneys and law students in the state emphasizing the importance of pro bono work in the legal profession.
From 2003 to 2006, Attorney Lew served as a Citizen Commissioner for the City of Winston-Salem on two community boards.
